Almost two months since I left the corporate world, I am now working again. My stint as a stay-at-home mom lasted only about three weeks. It was fun and I think the boys loved seeing me at home. But now, the company my friends and I put up is up and running and I’m back in the grind.
There’s many differences though, while I have to wake up at 5am to go to Makati, I now wake up at 5am to make sure my little kuya is ready for school. Then at 630am I start waking up the bunso for his school too. I take a shower for work as soon as the little one is picked up by his schoolbus. I can leave home at 850am and still get to work before 9am. Yep, office is just five minutes away. Sometimes the kids come over to do their homework or sometimes I go home for lunch. When the driver is busy, I can just easily hop on a car and pick up my son in school. And even if I end up staying beyond the 9am-6pm work hours, I still get home early. No traffic!
I just feel a bit pressured now that I’m running a business. Technically we’re only three employees right now, I have two other partners, while my mom and my partner’s dad are “consultants”.
Two years ago I remember attending the Mompreneur workshops and feel so envious of the other moms working on their own businesses. They all said it’s hard work but very fullfilling. I agree.
I have to admit there’s a bit of financial struggle right now because I still don’t have a salary, but I’m loving every minute of it. I wholly accept all the challenges. And I firmly believe that if you love what you do, the rest will follow…
