I am so thankful I have friends that help me get through motherhood. Some of them are not even moms but their presence and support are valuable in my mommy journey. And because this year’s ExpoMom’s theme is about #TeamMom, I dedicate this post to my favorite teams!
These are my friends since grade school in SSAM. While many of us where on and off classmates in grade school, it was in high school that we really bonded. Years and years later, we are still together and closer than ever. Sadly, one of our friends is based abroad and even if we do not see her often, we still keep in touch. Not all of my LEGO friends are moms but they have shown loves to all of the LEGO babies as doting ninangs. I share with them my concerns over my kids, stories of katatawanan, and stupid mommy things I’m ashamed to share with others. Oh, wondering what LEGO means? We have vowed til death not to share to anyone what it stands for!
CO-PARENTS (Mga Bruhas)
Many of us were first time parents in big school. We bonded while navigating our way in our sons’ school. After first grade, we found ourselves inviting each other for drinks, movie dates, breakfast before work, and even out of the country trips. We promised each other understanding, no judgements, no envy when some of us couldn’t join the night outs, and of course support. We have a long way to go being co-parents, since our sons are only almost half-way through grade school. I’m hoping the boys’ friendship among each other will also be as lasting as the parents, or even more.
ANG TUNAY NA BOSS
Our husbands/partners/boysfriends where classmates in high school. Whenever we met, the girls naturally had to talk to each other. It was not hard to form genuine friendship with these girls. Eventually we would plan night outs without our partners, or they ended up driving for their wives/girlfriends. What I love about these women is that they are not scared to call each other out. They are strong and confident women and I admire them a lot. Hence, our name, Ang Tunay na Boss. We are the real bosses and we just let our men believe that they run the world.
