Poor, poor blog. Neglected already. I have a perfectly good excuse though... we spent the holidays in a cruise and when we got back I fired our yaya and a few days later our helper's mom passed away. So, she went home and we got busy preparing for my little kuya's birthday. I finally found time to write! I've missed this so much! My first post for the year is all about our holiday cruise. It's the best way to visit several countries in one go without breaking the bank. For this trip, we went … [Read more...]
Learning #SoMuchMore with Johnson & Johnson and Virlanie Foundation
Sometimes a woman doesn’t have to give birth to a child to be called a mother. Many do it as a vocation. I met many of them when I joined Johnson & Johnson's outreach at the Virlanie Foundation. Virlanie Foundation was founded in 1992 for the purpose of taking care of neglected and abandoned children. They could be as young as newborn or as old as teenagers. They have several houses where kids live, clustered according to age. That day, we visited the house for toddlers and infants. … [Read more...]
Positivity of a 6 Year Old
More than a week ago my son got his 2nd quarter report card. That day I went home during lunch to check his grades. I already knew most of his grades went lower because the school gives us a quiz chart to monitor their quizzes. He made more mistakes during his periodical exams too. So, I went home and I look at his grades. It was actually still high but I put on my game face and called him. Before I could talk to him about his grades he goes... Son: "Mom! Mom! Did you see my report … [Read more...]
Celebrate Singles Day: 11.11
While finding true love is celebrated, being single is also celebrated in some part of the world as well... with lots of shopping involved... Singles Day began in the early 1990's by four college friends studying in Nanjing University in China. They went out, did karaoke, shopped for things they wouldn't usually buy had they been attached, and partied. They chose November 11 or 11.11 as the auspicious date because of the four "ones". They continued to celebrate Singles Day even after college … [Read more...]
Cycles and Cradle: 10 Years and Counting
When I had my first baby almost seven years ago, I got introduced to so many baby products to help take care of my baby. I would hear my mom say, "Wala naman ganyan dati!" And she was right! Baby care products have evolved so much! Even from my first child to my second, there's so many new things out there for our babies. Two products I knew I definitely needed were Cradle Baby Bottle & Nipple Cleanser and Cycles Mild Laundry Detergent. My first born was a preemie and I was extra worried … [Read more...]
My New Normal
Almost two months since I left the corporate world, I am now working again. My stint as a stay-at-home mom lasted only about three weeks. It was fun and I think the boys loved seeing me at home. But now, the company my friends and I put up is up and running and I'm back in the grind. There's many differences though, while I have to wake up at 5am to go to Makati, I now wake up at 5am to make sure my little kuya is ready for school. Then at 630am I start waking up the bunso for his school too. I … [Read more...]
Jolly Cow Fun Day
A day after I had my last day at work I got a wonderful treat from Jolly Cow Fresh Milk. I got to spend a day with one of my boys! The day started with a bus ride from Jolly Cow headquarters. While waiting to leave, we met the other moms and kids who were so excited to go to our first stop, Art in Island in Cubao. This is not your usual museum. It has more than a hundred 3D paintings you can pose in front of and look like you're in a different dimension altogether. My bunso is a … [Read more...]

Childproofing with Otterbox
My friends always say, if you don't want your kids to use your gadgets, don't put games. I never put games on my phone (ok maybe Candy Crush!) but my tech savvy kids cannot be stopped. So, I just make sure my phones are well-protected. And for that, there's Otterbox. Otterbox has been creating protective cases since 1998, starting with just plastic boxes to keep our gadgets dry. Until recently, Otterbox's designs have mostly been a bit rugged and bulky. Recently, I was lucky enough to be … [Read more...]
Sweet Dreams with Elica
For my family, change of weather means cough, colds, flu, and eczema. Yes, those red, dry, itchy rashes on skin. The whole family gets those, my husband getting the worse. But for us adults we deal with it easily unlike our little ones who end up scratching those rashes like crazy, even while they are asleep. One of my solutions is Elica. Eczema or as we Filipinos call it, skin asthma, is characterized by red, dry, itchy rashes on the skin. It may be triggered by different factors like dust … [Read more...]
